2016 Proton Perdana shows its side profile - Spied

Will continue being based on the Honda Accord.

Ahead of its launch in Q1 2016, a pre-production 2016 Proton Perdanca has been caught testing by Paultan reader Airul Amirul, flaunting its thoroughly facelifted exterior design. Proton's flagship model has already been teased and partially revealed at a company event last October.

The 2016 Proton Perdana will continue being based on the eighth generation Honda Accord, but gets a fully redesigned interior and exterior.

The new Perdana is reportedly 150 mm longer than the outgoing model, and features a comprehensive facelift that includes teardrop-shaped glasshouse, shark-fin antenna, boot-lid spoiler, prominent wheel arches, and angular styling for the head and tail lamps and front fender vents.

The 2016 Perdana will retain Honda’s R20A3 2.0-litre engine that produces 154 hp of maximum power and 189 Nm peak torque, as well as the K24Z2 2.4-litre i-VTEC motor with 177 hp and 222 Nm. Both variants will be offered with a five-speed automatic transmission.

The current Proton Perdana (which is a rebadged Honda Accord) is reserved only for government officials. Proton has confirmed that this will change, and that the new Perdana, with a completely new design and interior, will be available for purchase to the public as well.
