The 2016 Perdana features an all-new interior design that is a significant departure from the previous model, which was a rebadged Honda Accord.

While the previous Perdana was basically the Honda Accord with a different badge reserved for government officials, the new Perdana, which will be sold to the public, features an completely new exterior design. The front-end gets a new single slat grille directly flanked by the curvier headlamps, sportier bumper with chrome accents and a contoured engine hood. The side profile has a small faux intake, side sill extensions and new alloy rims, while the ORVMs are taken straight off the Accord.

The rear end looks much sportier than the sedate Accord, featuring wraparound taillamps, bold chrome bar with the logo, and a spoiler. The 3rd brake light is mounted on the boot lid, rather than on the windscreen. As for dimensions, the Perdana is 5,020 mm long which is significantly more than the previous gen Accord's length of 4,849 mm.

Spyshots reveal that the new Perdana's interior will be largely similar to that of the Honda Accord. The only significant change can be seen in the center console, which has been redesigned to house a touchscreen entertainment system and a dual zone HVAC system.

The engine lineup will include 2.0L and 2.4L Honda engines, of which details on the former are scarce. The 2.4L i-VTEC engine, Proton has confirmed, produces 178 hp at 6,500 rpm & 222 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm, and is paired to a five-speed automatic gearbox with steering-mounted paddle shifters.
