2016 Rolls Royce Dawn - Rendering

Basically a drop-top version of the Rolls Royce Wraith.

Rolls Royce has indirectly confirmed that a drop-top version of the Rolls Royce Wraith will join the brand's product lineup in 2016. It will make its public debut possibly at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, before launching in several markets in Q1 2016.

The Rolls Royce Dawn will mirror the basic styling of the Wraith.

French publication, L'Automobile, have posted a render of the Rolls Royce Dawn based on spyshots of pre-production prototypes. The 2-door Rolls Royce Wraith and Dawn will share a relationship similar to that of the Phantom Coupe and Drophead.

The Dawn will mirror the basic styling of the Wraith, but with the sloping fastback roof chopped-off for a soft cloth-based foldable roof. It could also get a Ghost Series II-inspired headlamps with LED DRL surround.

Interior will be largely identical to the Wraith too.

It will be powered by the same twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 engine powering the Rolls Royce Ghost and Wraith. As of now, its power figures haven’t been confirmed and it could either be identical to the Wraith’s 624 hp power output or de-tuned for a more relaxed approach.

An 8-speed automatic with GPS-guided gear selection will be the only transmission option. Given the extra weight added by the soft-top's motors and chassis strengthening, don't expect performance figures to exceed the coupe's.

The drop-top could borrow cues from the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead.

Rolls Royce have already begun accepting bookings for Dawn and have also privately unveiled the convertible to Rolls Royce’s global dealers in Los Angeles, California in May.
