Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Jay Chheda, snapped the third generation 2016 Skoda Superb testing on the roads of Pune, Maharashtra, recently. Unveiled in February this year, the new generation Superb is expected to be introduced in India in 2016, with a lineup consisting mainly of diesel variants.

The MQB-based Superb shares over half its parts with the new B8 Passat.

Skoda Auto India could continue offering the 2016 Superb with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI engine, which on the 2016 model is offered in power states of 150 PS and 190 PS, with a 6-speed manual or a DSG. To cater to the petrol segment, Skoda could also consider a 2.0-liter TSI with 220 PS on tap.

The MQB-based 2016 Superb shares over half of its parts with the new B8 VW Passat, which will also launch in India next year. Compared to its predecessor, the 2016 Superb is 75 kg lighter yet 80 mm longer in wheelbase. The sedan is also 28 mm longer in overall length and 47 mm wider than the present model.

All engines of the new Superb comply with EU6 norms, and get a Start-Stop feature.

Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, electrically adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, sunroof, Hill Hold, front and rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, tri-zone climate control, KESSY (Keyless entry and start system) and an 8-inch color touchscreen entertainment system are some of the features that will be seen on the 2016 Superb.
