2016 Skoda Superb - 2015 Geneva Live

Based on the MQB platform.

The 2016 Skoda Superb has made its public appearance at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Later in the day, Skoda UK announced that the Superb will be priced starting at 18,640 pounds (INR 17.72 lakhs) when it goes on sale later this year.

Based on VW's MQB platform, the new car is lighter (by up to 75 kg) and more spacious than before.

The flagship Skoda sedan, inspired by the VisionC concept, has a 80 mm longer wheelbase, but comes with shorter overhangs (by 61 mm) in comparison to the outgoing version.

New safety features side, the vehicle also gets high-speed internet access on the move (thanks to LTE/4G mobile connectivity), a SmartLink system that offers MirrorLink, which can stream contents from a smartphone screen to the infotainment display, and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets a twelve speaker, 610 W audio system.

The range of engines includes four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel units. Said to be up to 30 percent more fuel efficient, the Superb comes with a dual clutch transmission as standard, except the base petrol which uses a manual. Also offered is an all-wheel drive variant featuring the 5th generation Haldex system.
