2016 Skoda Superb snapped up close in India - Spied
Lighter by 75 kg yet 80 mm longer in wheelbase.
The 2016 Skoda Superb, which is expected to launch in India next year, was snapped up close by PowerDrift. The third generation of Skoda's flagship saloon was revealed earlier this year with fuel efficient engines, a newly-designed exterior and interior, and with a weight loss of 75 kg.
The weight loss comes courtesy of the new MQB platform, the same architecture which also underpins the new B8 VW Passat, also bound for an Indian launch next year. The new Superb and Passat share 50 percent of parts, which also extends to their engine line-up. For the Indian market, the Superb could continue to be offered with the 2.0-liter TDI engine which is paired to DSG and manual transmissions, with the drive going to the front wheels.
Thanks to the MQB platform, the new Superb is also more spacious than the current model sold in India. Dimensionally, it is 80 mm longer in wheelbase, 28 mm longer in overall length and 47 mm wider than the current model.

Like the current model, expect Skoda Auto India to assemble the Superb from CKD kits at its plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Contrary to previous reports, the new Superb will not be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, as Skoda itself will not be participating at the show.
