2016 Toyota Fortuner spyshots reveal complete interior, exterior - Spied
Will be available in 4 different variants.
More revealing images of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner have been published on the web ahead of its launch on July 17 in Thailand. The 2016 Fortuner is redesigned ground-up, sitting on a new ladder-frame chassis, featuring a modernized design and premium interior with individual features, and a new range of engines.
As per Thai reports, the Toyota Fortuner will be sold with 2 diesel engines and one petrol unit installed across 4 different variants (for Thai customers). The diesel variants would be the 2.4G 4x2 6MT, 2.4V 4x2 6AT, 2.8V 4x2 6AT, 2.8V 4x4 6AT, while the sole petrol model is the 2.7V 4x2 6AT. This implies that one variant will get 4WD+AT, one with 6-speed MT and the rest would make do with a 6-speed AT.
The Fortuner is only the third Toyota vehicle globally to carry the new GD diesel engine family. Its first member is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that outputs 150 hp/343 Nm of torque, and the more powerful 2.8-liter diesel engine reportedly comes in two tunes: 177 hp/420 Nm and 177 hp/450 Nm of torque. The older 2.7-liter four-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine carried over delivers 122 hp and 245 Nm of torque.
While there is no confirmation, Thai reports say that Smart Key System with Keyless Entry, push-button start, knee airbags, ABS+EBD, Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control system (VSC), and Hill Assist Control come standard. The center console, as the brochure leak showed yesterday, is redesigned for the Fortuner with a touch-screen display, while other components and the architecture is shared with the Hilux.

The next gen Toyota Fortuner is expected to arrive in the following financial year, in India, and perhaps could be unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo (February) for media and customer preview. It will continue to be built at TKM's (Toyota Kirloskar Motor) plant in Bidadi, Karnataka, with Thai-made kits. For higher localization, the company will manufacture the GD engines at its new engine manufacturing facility near Jigani, Karnataka.
