Further spyshots of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner have emerged showing interesting details. First up, the steering wheel features paddle shifters, a first on the SUV. The steering also gets integrated buttons for answering and ending phone calls, adjusting the music volume, and accessing the new MID which gets a large LCD screen of its own.

Based on the new Hilux Revo, the 2016 Fortuner will be around 10 percent more efficient than the pickup.

Speaking of the MID, its interesting to note that the needles for the speedometer and tachometer get a blue illumination. The stalk controlling the cruise control is also seen in one of these pictures.

The taillight clusters of the new Fortuner sport LED elements, and their overall appearance reminds one of the new Santa Fe. Speaking of the exterior, the new Fortuner will come in six colors for the Thai market. Top-end variants of the SUV will be equipped with Bi-Beam LED headlights while dual projector headlights would be a standard fitment on other variants.

The Fortuner will get LED headlights as an option, or standard projector headlights.

To recap, the 2016 Fortuner will be offered with 2.4- and 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engines from the new GD engine family, and a 2.7-liter VVT-i petrol engine carried over from the outgoing model. An Indian market launch of the new Fortuner is expected in the next calendar year.
