2016 Toyota Fortuner interior and exterior leaks out - Report
Differs completely in design, relative to the Hilux.
The exterior and interior of the 2016 Toyota Fortuner has been completely leaked ahead of its 17 July world debut in Thailand, courtesy of Twitter user digitalnext.
Although based on the eighth generation Toyota Hilux pickup truck, the SUV features its own distinctive front-end. The sweeping headlamps feature a combination of LED and projector lights and the redesigned grille, bumper, foglamp housing and hood come with generous garnishing of chrome.
The side profile is perhaps its best angle, featuring a floating roof design. At the back, the new tail lamps extend further outwards to the quarter panel and as well as inwards to the tailgate. Other talking points at the rear are a redesigned tailgate featuring a long chrome strip which apparently integrates into the tail lamps and should have 'Fortuner' name embossed on it , and a large roof spoiler.
The interior image reveals a plush new seven-seat cabin, with the new four-spoke steering wheel and gear shifter carried over from the Hilux Revo. However the instrument cluster, HVAC vents and vertically stacked centre console infotainment system, are specific to the Fortuner, unlike the current model which mirrors that of the 1-ton pickup.
The all-new Toyota Fortuner would be powered by 2.4- and 2.8-litre GD series diesel engines. The 2.7-litre petrol engine would be carried over from the current model, albeit with some refinements. These will be paired to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
Features from the Hilux that can come on-board the Fortuner are 7 airbags, VSC, Hill Assist Control, DAC (Downhill Assist Control) and A-TRC (Active Traction Control), Smart entry with a push button start, rear AC vents, follow-me lights and a Start-Stop system.
Expect the 2016 Toyota Fortuner to be launched in India in the next financial year.
