2016 Toyota Fortuner to be unveiled in July in Thailand - Report
Hilux and Innova also change generations this year.
A camouflaged test mule of the second-generation 2016 Toyota Fortuner has been spotted in Thailand, with a report on Headlight Mag suggesting that Toyota has scheduled its launch there for July.
The next-generation Fortuner is based on a new ladder-frame platform shared with its new pickup-truck sibling Hilux, which is also due for its launch in the months ahead. The recent renderings depict a more modern design and styling for the SUV with a sharper face with a Lexus RX-like design, and a heavily sculpted profile.
Toyota tries to combine the mighty road presence of the existing Fortuner with sportier lines seen in recent Toyota models. With the design, it aims at a premium positioning of the large SUV and to distinguish it massively from the Hilux pickup, according to a report.
While there is no official info on engine line-up, Toyota is expected to employ a new diesel engine along with petrol mills, with manual and automatic options.
