The 2016 Toyota Fortuner is based on an all-new lightweight ladder frame platform.

The next gen Fortuner features a kink in the greenhouse post the rear door giving the SUV a sportier profile. From the looks of it, the new car will not only have a D-pillar but also would let go off the C-pillar to sport a cantilevered roof.

The front and rear fascia complies with the brand's new design philosophy with sharped edged head and taillights. The dimensions don't appear to have changed much though. The interior too would be redesigned to align with the latest trends and get the latest in telematics.

A new ladder frame chassis would underpin the next gen Forturner and Hilux pickup, resulting in significant weight saving. The pair is also expected to be propelled by new petrol and diesel powerplants.
