2016 Toyota Hilux (next gen Fortuner-based pickup) - IAB Rendering
Expected to be unveiled as early as April.
This computer generated mockup of the next generation 2016 Toyota Hilux, prepared by our in-house artist, Shoeb Kalania, is of high accuracy as it is based on leaked images of the pickup. A source tells Indian Autos Blog that Toyota could reveal the new Hilux before June for the ASEAN region.
Following the unveiling of the new Hilux, it would take Toyota roughly 90 days to reveal the next generation Fortuner (based on the same platform as the new Hilux) says our source. However, leaked images of the new Fortuner have already found their way on the internet spoiling the surprise for Toyota enthusiasts.
Aggressively styled headlights with LED position lights, a 4-slat chrome grille and a wide intake for the bumper are some of the design highlights of the next gen Hilux. The design of the body remains more or less similar to the current generation model.
The Hilux nameplate has established itself as a rugged, go-anywhere pickup, and building on this will be the new ladder-frame chassis, sources said when asked about the mechanicals of the model. The new Hilux and Fortuner are expected to be powered by new, or updated engines paired to manual and automatic transmissions.
