Market launch of the TRD variant is expected this year.

Post its world premiere in May 2015, Toyota Motor Thailand (TMT) have showcased the 2016 Hilux Revo TRD Sportivo at the Bangkok International Auto Salon this week.

Based on a new ladder-frame platform, the Hilux Revo also debuted the new GD range of diesel engines.

Designers have given the pickup a new black matte-finished grille, a more aggressive looking front bumper, contrast roof and wing mirror covers, a red stripe and side decals with 'TRD' branding, 18-inch black alloy wheels, matte-black finish for the side body cladding, side steps, a stubby rear spoiler with integrated stop light and a TRD branded sport bar.

Additionally, the Hilux Revo TRD sports a TRD muffler with a carbon cover, a rear stabilizer bar, an off-road suspension, and an upgraded brake caliper kit. The oil filter and fuel filter caps also get TRD branding, according to Toyota.

While images of the interior are unavailable, the TRD Hilux Revo gets special floor mats, interior lighting at the foot level, TRD-branded gear shift knob, and "TRD Style Interior Decoration", which is expected to include a faux-carbon fiber finish for the dashboard.

The Hilux Revo will underpin the next generation Fortuner due to be revealed this month.
