2016 Toyota Innova to be called 'Toyota Innova Crysta' in India - Report
Debut at the Auto Expo 2016.
For the Indian market, TKM (Toyota Kirloskar Motor) will be calling the new generation 2016 Toyota Innova the 'Toyota Innova Crysta', a report on India Today states with a presentation image. The Toyota Innova Crysta will have its premiere at the Auto Expo 2016 next week.
The 'Crysta' name has been used by TKM in the past for a special edition on the Toyota Innova. However, the name will represent the second generation of the MPV this time, indicating that TKM may continue the first generation Innova for fleet buyers.
Based on a new ladder-frame platform, the Toyota Innova Crysta is expected to be powered by the new 2.4-liter GD diesel engine and possibly even the 2.0-liter Dual VVT-i petrol engine (TKM says its looking to introduce petrol variants on the Innova and Fortuner to circumvent the Supreme Court ban on diesel vehicles with engine capacity greater than 2,000 cc).
The diesel engine develops 149 PS and 342 Nm of torque while the petrol motor is capable of 139 PS and 187 Nm of torque. Both engines are available with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission for the Indonesian market.
