Video - 2016 Toyota Innova with LED DRLs caught testing in India

The new Innova will debut next year at one of the major Asian motorshows.

The next generation 2016 Toyota Innova was videotaped while it was testing, by YouTube user 'Sanjay Rao'. Based on an all-new ladder-frame chassis, the second generation of the popular MPV is due to be unveiled next year.

As can be seen in the video, the new Innova doesn't get a radical design rethink, and overall, its shape looks similar to the present model. What is evident is that the car seems to have grown in length. After the rear door, the new Innova seems to get a longer section for its third row of seats, hinting that cabin space could be improved compared to the current model.

Though the car is camouflaged, the front fascia shows signs of Toyota's new design language, which debuted on the new Corolla in India. The new Innova even gets Corolla-like LED daytime running lights. The grille is larger and wider, and the headlights are flared, yet sleeker in appearance.

Powering the new Innova will be a new diesel engine with comparatively better efficiency and emission levels than the outgoing model. Toyota will, for the first time, offer an automatic transmission on the Innova in India. Sources say that the AT will be matched to the diesel engine.
