Following its digital unveil in March, the 2016 Volvo V40 Cross Country (facelift) has been spotted up close for the first time. It gets minor changes to the exterior and interior, as well as new updates to the engine lineup.

One of the most noticeable changes in the new Volvo V40 Cross Country is the 'Thor's Hammer' headlights with striking T-shaped LED daytime running lights seen in the Volvo XC90Volvo S90 and Volvo V90. It also gets a new grille with vertical slats, bigger Volvo Iron Mark, and new rim options.

Inside, Volvo is offering new leather upholstery and trim options such as a new City Weave upholstery which was seen in the Volvo Concept Estate, Charcoal/Blond steering wheel option, Milled Aluminium, Black Grid Aluminium and Stealth Aluminium interior panel trims, contrasting stitching for the trim-coloured door inserts, and optional black headliner.

The V40 Cross Country's engine lineup includes a 1.5L turbo petrol, 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.0L turbodiesel engines available in a range of power tunes based on variants chosen : T3,T4,T5,D2,D3,D4. Power outputs range between 152 hp to 245 hp for the petrol variants and 120 hp to 190 hp for the diesel variants. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual for base variants and an 8-speed automatic gearbox, while an AWD system is only available for T4 and T5 petrol variants.
