2016 VW Tiguan could look like a "baby VW Touareg" - Rendering
Will debut at the 2015 IAA in September.
Ahead of its global debut at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt, Omniauto has posted a render of the 2016 VW Tiguan, which cleverly combines design cues from the CrossBlue and Cross Coupe GTE concepts for a new look.
Judging by recent spyshots, the second generation VW Tiguan will adopt an angular styling that looks closer to an SUV than the outgoing model did. It will also be available as a long wheelbase model (VW Tiguan XL) with 7 seats, and, reportedly, as a sleek 5-door coupe-crossover (VW Tiguan CC) to rival the upmarket Range Rover Evoque.
The 2016 VW Tiguan will drop the PQ35 platform for a lighter and efficient MQB platform, which underpins the latest range Volkswagens (such as the new Passat and Golf Mk7). So expect engines compatible with the MQB platform, such as a frugal 1.0-liter TSI three-cylinder engine and a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine. Entry-level variants will send the power to the front wheels, while VW’s 4MOTION electronic all-wheel drive system will be offered as standard for higher variants.

VW India will introduce the VW Tiguan for the first time in the country in its second generation guise. For competitive pricing, the company could assemble the Tiguan locally with a fair bit of parts localized.
