Acura has unveiled the 2017 Acura MDX (facelift) at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. Here's how the 2017 Acura MDX (facelift) differs from the old Acura MDX.

Design

The Acura Precision Concept's design has inspired the updated design of the 2017 Acura MDX.

The 2017 Acura MDX features the new pentagon grille, first seen on the Acura Precision Concept, restyled Jewel Eye headlights, new LED foglights, a more sharply sculpted hood, front fascia and front fenders, new chrome rocker panel design, a revised rear bumper, body colored skid plate garnish and twin tailpipes. Two new 20-inch wheels are available optionally.

Hybrid Power

The 2016 Acura MDX is available with only a 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 gasoline engine that produces 290 hp and 267 lb.-ft. (362 Nm) of torque. The 2017 Acura MDX mode range includes a new Sport Hybrid model. It's the brand's third model to feature its three-motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain after the Acura NSX and the Acura RLX.

On the new model, there's a 3.0-liter gasoline engine with cylinder deactivation linked to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission with an integrated electric motor powering the front wheels, and a Twin Motor Unit consisting of two electric motors which power the rear wheels. The hybrid system produces 325 hp. The Sport Hybrid models have an exclusive new driving mode - Sport+.

Features

An Electric Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold is standard now.

The 2017 Acura MDX gains an Electric Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold, Auto High Beam headlights, SiriusXM Radio 2.0 and four 2.5-amp USB charging ports are now included in the standard features. Advance grades gain LED foglights, genuine Olive Ash Burl or Black Limba wood interior trim, a heated steering wheel and Surround-View Camera System with six viewing angles to choose from.

Safety and Driver-Assitive Tech

The 2017 Acura MDX benefits from AcuraWatch range of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies being offered as standard. These technologies include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with automatic emergency braking, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF) and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM).

The 2017 Acura goes on sale in Summer 2016 while the Acura MDX Sport Hybrid will follow later this year.
