India-bound 2017 Audi Q5 - In 9 Live Images

The 2017 Audi Q5 has been unveiled to the world at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, marking the second-most popular Q series model's move to its second generation. Live images from autohome.com.cn give the first up-close look at the all-new Q5.

2017 Audi Q5 front three quarters

Moving to its second generation, the Audi Q5 has undergone an evolutionary redesign for a bolder and more angular look, all while largely remaining similar in shape. The new generation Q5 measures 4,663 mm in length, 2,140 mm (with door mirrors open) in width and 1,659 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,819 mm. Thus, the Q5 is now 34 mm longer, 51 mm wider and 4 mm taller, and has a 12 mm longer wheelbase.

The second-gen Audi Q5 is built on the MLB Evo platform and up to 90 kg lighter compared to its predecessor. The 2017 Audi Q5 will be available with five engine options at launch: 185 kW (252 PS) 2.0-litre TFSI petrol, 110 kW (150 PS) 2.0-litre TDI diesel, 120 kW (163 PS) 2.0-litre TDI diesel, 140 kW (190 PS) 2.0-litre TDI diesel and 210 kW (286 PS) 3.0-litre TDI diesel. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual, 7-speed S tronic and 8-speed tiptronic (exclusive to the 3.0-litre TDI engine). The Quattro all-wheel drive system will be available in select engine models, without which, the remaining engine models will be front-wheel drive.

Key features of the 2017 Audi Q5 are, Matrix LED headlights, dynamic turn signals (front and rear both), 21-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, ambient lighting with 30 different colours, Audi virtual cockpit fully digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch high-resolution display, head-up display, MMI navigation plus infotainment system with an 8.3-inch display, Qi wireless charging and Bang & Olufsen Sound System. The new generation Audi Q5 will be manufactured at the company's new Mexico plant that will be inaugurated today, and go on sale in Europe in early-2017. Expect it to launch in India somewhere around Q3 2017.
