Enters production in Mexico next year.

The 2016 Audi Q5 has been confirmed to enter production next year and a test mule of it has been spotted by Twitter user AutoFerriere in Europe.

The vehicle is heavily camouflaged but shows no significant changes in body shape.

The spyshots show that the Q5 retains the overall design except for the face; which is expected to receive major changes based on its big brother, the Q7. The fascia covered in this pic, is likely to get a flatter and broader grille, sharper Matrix LED headlights, and larger air intakes.

The interior, not snagged by the spotter, could have the same dashboard layout seen on the 2016 Audi A4. The latest version of Audi’s MMI infotainment could come as standard while Virtual Cockpit Display could be optional.

It's been reported that power for the 2017 Audi Q5 will come from a choice of four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines that are also seen on the 2016 Audi A4. In the A4, these engines come in different outputs ranging from 150 hp to 272 hp. Quattro all-wheel drive is expected to be available only on top-spec trims.

All of the Q5's technologies and powertrains would be lifted off the new Audi A4.

The new Q5 will be based on the MLB-Evo platform that is built from a combination of aluminium and high-strength steel which will reportedly make the incoming model lighter by nearly 100 kg, thereby making it more fuel efficient and giving it better handling.

The 2017 Audi Q5 first model to be produced at the company’s factory at San Jose Chiapa in Mexico from mid-2016.
