2017 BMW 5 Series M Sport - Rendering
Said to debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
The current BMW 5 Series (BMW F10) is looking set to be replaced by the seventh generation BMW 5 Series (BMW G30) this year. The car's in the final stages of its development, with reports saying that its debut will be at the 2016 Paris Motor Show that opens on October 1.
Based on the spy shots, BIMMERPOST forum member Paul-Bracq-BMW has created exterior renderings of the 2017 BMW 5 Series M Sport.
The styling of the M Sport variant seen in these images is reminiscent of the 2017 BMW 7 Series M Sport (BMW M760Li xDrive). The sixth-gen BMW 5 Series will be based on the new CLAR (Cluster Architecture) rear-wheel drive platform that was first used for the all-new 7 Series. BMW will reportedly use lightweight materials like carbon-fibre, magnesium, aluminium and high-tensile steel to such an extent that the car's weight will drop by up to 100 kg.

The 2017 BMW 5 Series will be launched in Europe before the end of 2016 and in the USA in Q1 2017. From a variety of turbocharged engines to be offered globally, in the UK BMW will reportedly offer B47 2.0-litre four-cylinder and B57 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel units and B48 2.0-litre four-cylinder and B58 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol units. Sooner or later, there would be a plug-in hybrid arriving as well. The Touring (estate) version, Gran Turismo version and the M variant will debut in 2017.
