To rival the Mercedes GLA.

X-Tomi Design have come up with a render of the X1-based BMW X2 SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle), following reports claiming that BMW will produce the said model and launch it in H2 2017.

2017 BMW X2 front three quarter unofficial rendering
The BMW X2, like its bigger brothers, will adopt a sloping roofline and upright rear-end.

The X2 is nothing but the latest X1 with a sloping roofline and a re-worked rear-end, similar to the likes of it bigger brothers - the X4 and X6. Small tweaks will be made to the overall design for a bolder stance and sporty appeal.

It will likely share more than the UKL platform with the BMW X1, which includes the range of 2.0-liter four cylinder diesel and petrol engines with power outputs ranging from 150 hp to 231 hp. In the X1, transmission options include a six-speed manual for the entry-level diesel variant, while the rest will benefit from an 8-speed ZF automatic. Top variants will get the xDrive AWD system as standard.
