2017 Chevrolet Beat will be available as a notchback - IAB Report

To be launched in early 2017.

Chevrolet has announced that the next generation Chevrolet Beat will be available as a notchback in early 2017, alongside the regular hatchback.

The 2017 Chevrolet Beat notchback and hatchback could borrow design cues from the 2016 Chevrolet Spark (pictured).

This falls inline with reports from 2014, which suggested that GM India was working on a sub-4m offering to compete against the Maruti Dzire, Tata Zest, Honda Amaze, and Hyundai Xcent.

The 2017 Chevrolet Beat notchback and hatchback will likely be based on the current model's M300 platform, and borrow design cues from the 2016 Chevrolet Spark, which was recently launched in Korea.

Under the hood, the next generation Chevrolet Beat will be powered by a new 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine (a downsized version of the 1.4-liter EcoTec engine offered in the 2016 Spark) or a 1.0-liter three-cylinder SDE diesel with slight modifications for better fuel economy. Other than a manual gearbox, Chevrolet may also offer an automatic transmission option for higher trims.
