2017 Chevrolet Beat & Chevrolet Beat Essentia spied on test

New Chevrolet Beat range set to launch later this year.

The 2017 Chevrolet Beat and the Chevrolet Beat Essentia sedan based on it were recently spied testing on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, courtesy Motorbeam. The Beat test mule was completely uncamouflaged, while the Beat Essentia was camouflaged.

The next-gen Chevrolet Beat will continue on the M300's underpinnings.

It is worth noting that GM India has already revealed the 2017 Chevrolet Beat and the Chevrolet Beat Essentia's exterior. The Chevrolet Beat gets an evolutionary design for its fourth generation, while the Chevrolet Beat Essentia expands the Chevrolet Beat range to take on the sub-4 metre sedans like the Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Tigor.

The next-gen Chevrolet Beat will continue with the M300 underpinnings, and needless to say, the Chevrolet Essentia and Chevrolet Beat Activ will sit on the same platform. The current 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol and 1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel engines will likely continue with upgrades, along with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Reports put a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine as one of the possibilities.

The 2017 Chevrolet Beat range will likely have the upgraded 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol and 1.0-litre three-cylinder diesel units as options.

The 2017 Chevrolet Beat and the Chevrolet Beat Essentia's equipment should include features like MyLink2 touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration compatibility, semi-digital instrument panel, reversing camera, ABS with EBD and dual front airbags.

The new Chevrolet Beat range will be introduced later this year.
