Could debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.

Ford's corporate document for a J.P. Morgan Auto Conference has allegedly revealed the face of the 2017 Ford Fusion. The facelift of the mid-size sedan could debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2016, four years after its unveiling at the same venue.

The current Fusion was unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show is due for its mid-cycle refresh late this year or early next year.

The image is of a poor quality but reveals very subtle changes that consist of an edgier grille, slimmer headlights and what appear to be angular blades housing LED DRLs on the front bumper. The side profile is the same as before while the rear has not been pictured.

The interior has been caught earlier with the same dashboard layout, though there are reports of the gear stick being replaced with a rotary dial unit. New seat fabric and interior tones are expected, with the infotainment system getting upgraded to the latest edition Ford SYNC 3 unit.

Since this is a facelift, the engines will be the same as before, with just minor tweaks. That means a 1.5-liter EcoBoost petrol producing 181 bhp, a 2.0-liter EcoBoost petrol making 231 bhp, and the 2.5-liter petrol generating 175 bhp and 237 Nm of torque, will soldier on.

The current interiors will be improved in the new Fusion, which may get a rotary dial knob instead of the standard gear lever. (Pictured - 2016 Fusion interior mule shot by AutosSegredos)

The engines could be paired to the same 6-speed ‘SelectShift’ automatic transmission. The hybrid variants powered by a 2.0-liter, inline-four having output of 141 bhp and 175 Nm of pulling power are paired to a CVT gearbox.
