After Thailand & Indonesia, 2017 Honda CR-V prepares to enter Malaysia

Will launch in the coming months.

Following its launch at the BIMS 2017 in Thailand and IIMS 2017 in Indonesia, Malaysia is the next market to receive the ASEAN-spec 2017 Honda CR-V 7-seater. A Funtasticko reader has snapped the CR-V testing on the PLUS Highway heading from Melaka to Seremban, featuring a light body wrap.

Compared to the outgoing model, the new CR-V is 5 mm longer, 35 mm wider, 39 mm higher and has a 40 mm longer wheelbase, measuring 4,587 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, 1,689 mm in height, has a wheelbase of 2,660 mm, and a ground clearance between 198 - 208 mm (depending on variant).

Like the model sold in Thailand, the Malaysian-spec Honda CR-V will have an all black interior contrasted with silver and wood garnish, a TFT driver's display similar to the Honda Civic, a regular volume control knob and a 97-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Both driver and front passenger have power adjustable seats. A first for the Honda CR-V in ASEAN markets is the option of third-row seating, which is not available in the model sold in the U.S.

For the Malaysian market, Honda could offer the familiar 2.4L i-VTEC N/A petrol engine with 175 hp & 225 Nm of torque, and the 1.5L VTEC Turbo engine with 190 PS and 240 Nm of torque. Both models will be paired to a CVT as standard.

As for the Indian market, the new CR-V will launch in India soon. It will be assembled with 65% localization in India, offer a diesel option and likely the 7-seater option.
