Reported to launch in India this August.
IAB reader Nisheet Jain has spotted the 2017 Hyundai Verna testing in Himachal Pradesh. This is the first time we're seeing the next gen Verna on Indian roads, ahead of its launch in India this August.
Both test mules spotted are covered up in black canvas, but the visible changes seem similar to that of the Hyundai Accent unveiled in Toronto, at least from the rear. The new Verna's exterior styling will be significantly different to the current model, featuring the cascading grille, swept-back headlights and LED daytime running lights, new alloy wheels, new front lip spoiler, sportier bumper design with chrome elements, LED horizontal taillamps, and moulded rear spoiler.
The interior design will draw elements from Hyundai's latest lineup of cars such as the Tucson and Elantra. The model revealed in other markets feature an all-black interior with silver trim around the center console and HVAC vents, automatic climate control, 8-inch touchscreen AVN system and start/stop button.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna is expected to launch with the same lineup of engines, which should include 1.4- and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines paired with a manual gearbox. We're not sure if Hyundai will retain the 4-speed automatic unit or replace it with a 6-speed unit in both 1.6 petrol and diesel variants.
The new Verna will take on the refreshed Honda City and the Maruti Ciaz from NEXA, among other models.
