New Hyundai Verna spotted in the Phantom Black colour
IAB reader Neethi Rajan R. has spotted a Phantom Black Hyundai Verna on public roads in Chennai. The car wears protective masking and is on its way to a dealership.
The Phantom Black paint shade is not new to the Verna. It is one of seven colour options Hyundai is offering the sedan in. Aside from the body colour, details visible in these images include a badge denoting the top-end SX trim, 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, shark fin antenna, chrome applique on the window sill and chrome door handles.
The new Verna is available in four trims - E, EX, SX and SX(O). Manual petrol and diesel variants can be had in all four trims. While the diesel auto is available only in EX and SX grades, the Hyundai offers petrol auto in EX and SX(O) grades. This means customers will be unable to opt for the Hyundai Verna 1.6 diesel AT in the top of the line SX(O) trim.
The 2017 Hyundai Verna interior gets a black-beige finish with silver accents around the centre console and aircon vents and on the steering wheel. A 7-inch touchscreen AVN with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link support is standard on the SX and SX(O) trims. Scans of the brochure detailing the variant break up in full were leaked online this week.
Hyundai is launching the Verna with two engine options - 1,591 cc Gamma Dual VTVT petrol and 1,582 cc U2 CRDi diesel. The Verna petrol has a maximum power and torque output of 123 PS @ 6,400 rpm and 15.4 kgm @ 4,850 rpm making it more powerful than the Honda City and Maruti Ciaz. The diesel variant is the most powerful in its segment with 128 PS @ 4,000 rpm and 26.5 kgm @ 1,500-3,000 rpm on tap. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic torque converter.
