2017 Hyundai Verna spied testing in Maharashtra

IAB reader Amod Ganachari has snapped a 2017 Hyundai Verna test mule in Maharashtra. The new Verna is in its final testing stage, and arrives in showrooms in August. Reports suggest that prices will be announced on August 22.

The new Hyundai Verna will start arriving in showrooms in the second half of August.

Although the test car has the usual canvas wrap hiding the exterior design, Hyundai dropped a teaser of its front fascia in June. The teaser confirms that the model is identical to the 2017 Hyundai Accent and 2017 Hyundai Solaris for North America (Q3 2017 launch) and Russia, respectively. The international-spec all-new Verna measures 4,385 mm in length (+15 mm), 1,729 mm in width (+29 mm) and 1,450 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,580 mm (+10 mm).

The interior has also been revealed via a design sketch displaying similarities, likewise.

Like the outgoing Verna, the renewed Honda City/Maruti Ciaz challenger comes with a dual tone black beige colour theme. Expect the range-topping variant with keyless entry, push-button start, automatic climate control and rear AC vents. Further, a 7-inch touchscreen system with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice control, leather steering, gearshift knob and seats, parking sensors, reverse camera, ABS with EBD and six airbags will populate the top-spec version.

The new Verna is likely to download the engine lineup from the outgoing version. These include the 107 PS 1.4-litre Gamma petrol, 123 PS 1.6-litre Gamma petrol, 90 PS 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel and 128 PS 1.6-litre U2 CRDi diesel engines available with 5-speed manual and 6-speed manual gearboxes. For the automatic variants, Hyundai could replace the 4AT option in both 1.6 petrol and diesel engines for a new 6AT torque converter from the Creta.
