Could arrive in India in 2017.

New images of the production-spec 2017 Hyundai Verna have leaked in China revealing all aspects of the Honda City rival's exterior. Here's a brief pictorial comparison of the existing vehicle and its successor.

Exterior

Previewed by the Hyundai Verna concept from the 2016 Beijing Motor Show in April, the next gen Hyundai Verna features an evolutionary exterior sporting the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. The front fascia features a large hexagonal grille with chrome bezels, sleek projector headlamps and sportier bumpers.

The side profile appears to be more or less similar to the current Hyundai Verna, save for a redesigned C-pillar and rear door. The roofline seems to flow into the rear-end of the car, giving it a liftback like appearance. The registration plate has been repositioned to the bumper, while the upper deck features LED taillamps and a moulded spoiler.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna is reported to measure 4,380 mm in length, 1,728 mm in width, 1,460 mm in height and 2,600 mm in wheelbase. The wheelbase, as per Chinese news reports, has been extended by 30 mm to enhance interior space.

Powertrain

The new Verna will launch in the Chinese market first, and is reported to get 1.4- and 1.6-liter petrol engines developing 100 hp and 123 hp respectively. For the Indian market, Hyundai would have to additionally offer the popular diesel engine choices (1.4- and 1.6-liter CRDi units) paired to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Hyundai offers a 7-speed DCT on the Korean spec Verna, and this unit could be available globally on the newcomer.
