2017 Hyundai Verna vs current model - Old vs New

Will go on sale in India next year.

Hyundai unveiled the next generation 2017 Hyundai Verna at the 2016 Chengdu Motor Show last week. It will go on sale in markets like China and Korea later this year, while the Indian market will get it sometime by mid-2017.

Here's a pictorial comparison between the 2017 Hyundai Verna and the outgoing model.

Exterior:

The next gen Hyundai Verna features an evolutionary exterior influenced by the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. The front fascia features a large hexagonal grille with chrome embellishment, sleek projector headlamps with LED DRLs, sportier bumpers and angular foglamps.

The side profile appears to be cleaner, and features a redesigned C-pillar and rear door. The roofline flows into the rear-end of the car, giving it a liftback like appearance. The registration plate has been repositioned to the bumper, while the upper deck features LED taillamps and a moulded spoiler.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna measures 4,380 mm in length, 1,728 mm in width, 1,460 mm in height and 2,600 mm in wheelbase. Compared to the outgoing model, its wheelbase has been extended by 30 mm to enhance knee room.

Interior:

The interior is significantly different from the outgoing model, and is inline with the latest crop of Hyundais. The China-spec model has an all-black interior with silver trim around the center console and HVAC vents, new three spoke steering wheel with buttons, new instrument cluster and drops the 'waterfall' dashboard for floating a design instead.

It features automatic climate control, a large touchscreen AVN system, cruise control, parking sensors and start/stop button.

Powertrain:

For the Chinese market, the new Verna will be sold with a choice between a 1.4- and 1.6-liter petrol engine developing 100 hp and 123 hp respectively. For the Indian market, Hyundai will additionally offer the popular diesel engine choices (1.4- and 1.6-liter CRDi units) paired to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
