Will go on sale in August 2017.

Thanks to very high localisation levels, the 2017 Jeep Compass will not only be the most affordable Jeep in India, but also undercut its rivals. The compact SUV was expected to start from around INR 25-30 lakh, but citing an undisclosed source, a report from Overdrive says that the 2017 Jeep Compass will start at just INR 16 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Jeep Compass will compete with the Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and upcoming VW Tiguan in India.

The 2017 Jeep Compass is available internationally in four trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk. A report last year said that the off-road focused Trailhawk trim level is not planned for sale in India. A 1.4-litre FIRE MultiAir 2 petrol, 2.0-litre Tigershark petrol, 2.4-litre Tigershark MultiAir 2 petrol, 1.6-litre MultiJet II diesel and 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel are the available engine options, but only two of them should make it to India: 1.4 FIRE MultiAir 2 petrol and 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel.

The 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine could be offered with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic that sends power to the front wheels, while the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine could be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. An AWD system is likely to be exclusive to the 2.0 diesel variant.

Noteworthy features of the 2017 Jeep Compass sold in the Brazilian market are, projector-beam headlamps with LED signature lights, LED signature tail lamps, 19-inch wheels, dual chrome exhaust tips, dual-pane sunroof, 7.0-inch full-color LED instrument cluster, Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and 9-speaker BeatsAudio Premium II audio system with a 12-channel amplifier and a subwoofer.

FCA India will manufacture the 2017 Jeep Compass at its Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.
