Expected to make its premiere at the EICMA show this year.

Based on spyshots that have surfaced, a rendering of the upcoming 2017 KTM Duke 390 shows that the popular sports bike gets an evolutionary makeover compared to the current model. Slated to make its debut at the EICMA show in Milan in November 2016, the bike is expected to hit Indian roads next year only.

The 2017 Duke 390 is expected to pack a modified version of the current 373 cc engine.

Largely believed to be sharing powertrains with the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar CS400, it must be noted that the Bajaj-branded sibling will be launched before the covers are off the 2017 Duke 390. This should give the company enough insight into customer preferences about the engine, even though the KTM-branded bike will carry a differently tuned engine.

An updated 373.2 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine is expected to do duty on both bikes, churning out 32 kW (44 hp) and 35 Nm of torque. However, the next-gen Duke 390 is expected to carry a drive-by-wire system that is believed to be absent in the upcoming Pulsar.

KTM would take a further 12-18 months to bring the faired next-gen RC390 to the market.

Going by the images, the bike is expected to carry changes to its headlamps and the fairing. The underbody exhaust, also adopted in the Pulsar NS200, is expected to make way for a conventional exhaust system.
