2017 KTM Duke 890 starts testing - Spied

Could spawn an adventure version too.

Motorcycle.com has posted spyshots of a KTM prototype which appears to belong to the mid-size segment. The model is believed to be the new KTM Duke 890, while the publication reports that it could in reality even be a Duke 590 or a Duke 790.

The prototype seems to have an inline-twin cylinder engine.

The possibility of the test mule being a smaller 500 cc offering is justified by the website which says that Stefan Pierer, President and Chief Executive Officer of KTM, once said the company is also working on building a parallel-twin motorcycle with an engine close to 500 cc of displacement.

The test mule could also be a twin-cylinder 500 cc motorcycle which the company's CEO vaguely mentioned in the past.

The publication adds that the engine appears to be significantly short (longitudinally) and that it appears to have a 270-degree crank angle. The latter is known to convincingly imitate a V-Twin exhaust note, when compared to the more typical engines which have 180- or 360-degree cranks.
