2017 Mahindra Scorpio (facelift) to get Android Auto next year - Report
Srinivas Aravapalli, Senior Vice President, Head - Product Development, Mahindra & Mahindra told CarandBike that the company would be updating its existing products with Android Auto in the next year.
The 2017 Mahindra Scorpio facelift due this year won't offer Android Auto at the time of launch. The feature will only be available at a later stage, he confirmed. The report adds that along with the Scorpio, the Mahindra TUV300 and Mahindra KUV100 will also gain Android Auto in the coming year.
Aside from Android Auto, the Scorpio is likely to gain connectivity apps introduced on the XUV500. On April 19, Mahindra announced the introduction of Android Auto, Connected Apps, Ecosense & Emergency Call function to the XUV500. Connected Apps enable users to access Gaana, Cricket Live, Zomato, Book My Show through the car's infotainment system. Ecosense rates driving parameters like speed, gear selection, acceleration, idling, clutch override and aggressive braking to help optimize fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions.
The launch of the 2017 Mahindra Scorpio facelift is confirmed for this year. It could take place during the festive season. Based on spy pictures, the Scorpio facelift will get a restyled front bumper, an updated 'toothed' grille and new tail lamp graphics. A media report said that the updated Scorpio would put out 140 bhp (up from 120 bhp) and get the new 6-speed Aisin AT in the facelift. The facelift however will not come with Intelli-Hybrid technology.
