IAB reader spots the 2017 Mahindra Scorpio Pik-Up on test
Could launch for sale in the coming months.
The 2017 Mahindra Scorpio Pik-Up has been spied testing by IAB reader Suraj Suprabhan. The current Scorpio Getaway (Scorpio Pik-Up in export markets) is still based on the previous generation Scorpio.
Although the front-end wasn't spied, it has the fascia of the current Scorpio, while the rear-end looks largely identical to the outgoing Scorpio Getaway. The interior could also be spruced up to include a new instrument cluster, steering wheel, centre console, HVAC vents and gear shift lever, and an infotainment system.
If the new pickup rides on the Scorpio's hydroformed chassis, the vehicle will emerge lighter, stronger and stiffer than the current Getaway. Its wider frame will enhance high-speed stability, while the redesigned front section could improve the pickup’s crash test rating, a huge bonus for the version sold in markets like Australia.

Under the hood is a 2.2-litre turbodiesel 4-cyl motor from the Mahindra Scorpio paired to a 5-speed gearbox, which is capable of producing 120 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque. A 4x4 drivetrain will continue to be available in the new Pik-Up, as evidenced by the sticker on the profile.
