The new Swift Dzire will be significantly lighter, more advanced and more premium than the predecessor. It is based on the international-spec 2017 Suzuki Swift which is on sale in Japan and was unveiled in Europe last month. However, the Swift Dzire has unique touches to its exterior design such as a wide grille with a bold chrome appliqué, new bumper chrome accents, new LED taillamps, moulded boot spoiler, shark fin antenna, and redesigned rear bumper.

Inside, the Swift Dzire has a beige and black colour combination with chrome, silver and faux wood trim materials, as well as restyled centre console, instrument binnacle and auto climate control buttons. The leather-wrapped, Swift-sourced steering wheel is flat-bottomed and has buttons for audio and telephony (besides the horn pad), but the cluster does not get the 4.2-inch colour MID. A 7-inch Smartplay touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be equipped in the top-end grade.

As for engine options, the 1.3L DDiS 190 4-cyl diesel engine paired with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AGS (AMT), as well as a 1.2L 4-cyl K12B petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual, will be offered. The petrol automatic option could either retain the 4-speed automatic or source a 5-speed AMT from Ignis.
