2017 Maruti Swift rendered, to launch next year
Reported to launch in the festive season of 2017.
Based on leaked images of the Suzuki Swift RS, a leaked brochure from yesterday, as well as our expectations, IAB's Shoeb R Kalania has created a rendering of the 2017 Maruti Swift, providing us the closest look yet at the next-gen hatchback.
Compared to the international-spec Suzuki Swift, the next generation Maruti Swift will have minor changes to better suit the requirements of the Indian car buyer. These changes will revolve around tuning the car for Indian road conditions as well as keeping the price as competitive as possible, given that it's one of Maruti's best selling products.
Expect a higher ground clearance, a softer suspension setup, skinnier tires, thinner plastics and body panels, dual airbags instead of seven, no option of Safety package (Dual Camera Brake Support, Lane Assist, etc), an AMT unit instead of CVT in the 1.2 petrol automatic variant, rear drum brakes instead of discs, and fabric upholstery.
Despite the adaptation, the new Swift will be more feature-packed than ever before. If Maruti keeps the current model's hierarchy, expect the 'Z' grade to come with features like LED headlamps with DRLs, chrome garnish around the gaping grille, chrome door handles, rear parking sensors with camera and 16-inch alloy wheels
Inside, it may come equipped with steering-mounted buttons, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, new multi-info color display similar to Baleno's unit, automatic climate control, and a 7-inch Smartplay touchscreen system with Apple Carplay.
