2017 Mercedes E-Class LWB (V213) spied in India [Video]

Could be launched this March.

The 2017 Mercedes E-Class LWB has been spied testing in Chakan by IAB reader Sheriyar Sheikh, who also posted a video of the pre-production prototypes.

As previously reported, the Mercedes E-Class will launch in the long-wheelbase V213 avatar in India; instead of the regular wheelbase (W213). It measures 5,063 mm long and has a wheelbase of 3,079 mm, which is 140 mm longer than the standard E-Class. The engine lineup is reported to include a 3.0L V6 turbodiesel in the E 350d variant and a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cyl petrol motor in the E 300 variant.

So far, the E-Class LWB is exclusive to the Chinese market, where premium car buyers have an affinity for LWB sedans. Mercedes hopes to create another USP for the E-Class in India by selling only the LWB version, offering the rear seat freedom and comfort one would expect from a super luxury limousine.

As it’s the first RHD LWB E-Class, Mercedes India had to invest extra in its development. They are hoping for the gamble to pay off by pushing more volumes than ever before into the market.
