2018 Mitsubishi ASX spied on test in Japan with no camouflage

Will be among the company's last global models developed completely in-house.

The current Mitsubishi ASX will reach the end of its lifecycle next year and MMC is working on a redesigned model that will be introduced next year. As its testing & development continues globally, the 2018 Mitsubishi ASX was recently spied testing by Twitter user hotaka_ltd in Japan, with no camouflage.

The 2018 Mitsubishi ASX is expected to have a plug-in hybrid variant.

The next-gen Mitsubishi ASX is expected to have hints of the Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II in its design. As evident in the spy shot, the 2018 Mitsubishi ASX will feature a sportier rear-end than the outgoing model's. The steeply raked back glass will one of the major design aspects of the new generation model.

The 2018 Mitsubishi ASX will be one of the company's last models to be developed completely in-house, as further ahead we see Mitsubishi models having synergies with the Renault-Nissan Alliance's technologies. Along with conventional petrol and diesel engines, the fourth-gen ASX should be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The fourth-gen Mitsubishi ASX has cues design borrowed from the Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV II.
