Next gen Nissan Micra (Nissan Sway production version) - IAB Rendering

Micra for Europe to be completely different from Indian model.

Seen here is our artist, Shoeb's rendering of a production version of the Nissan Sway concept, that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year. The Sway concept, according to reports, is a design precursor to the next generation Micra which will enter production in Europe next year.

For Europe, the new Micra will be based on the CMF platform.

Where Renault Nissan's Alliance plant in Chennai exports the current Micra to Europe, Nissan will be manufacturing the next generation model at Renault's Flins plant. The main reason for this is because the new Micra for Europe is expected to be based on the modular CMF platform, whereas the Micra's successor in India will be developed upon the V-Platform used by the current generation model.

Sources tell Indian Autos Blog that the Japanese company has invested significantly in localizing the V-Platform in India, yet sales volumes have not reached expected levels. Hence, the brand will suitably re-engineer the V-Platform instead of bringing another round of investments in localizing the CMF platform.

The Sway is designed keeping in mind European tastes for a modern, urban runabout. The front fascia bears close similarity to the Nissan Pulsar with its cab-forward stance, the characteristic V-shaped grille and flared headlight enclosures.

Towards the rear, the concept opted for a panoramic glass roof to convey the effect of a floating roof, and featured C-shape taillight enclosures. The concept measured 4,010 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width, 1,385 mm in height and 2,570 mm in wheelbase.
