Will enter production by the end of 2016.

The fourth generation Nissan Micra is about to be replaced by the fifth generation Nissan Micra in the European markets soon. The all-new model will reportedly debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show that will open for press on September 29. A flurry of spyshots and renderings are surfacing over the web less than two months ahead of the car's unveiling, and now, a speculative rendering from Top Speed previews the 2017 Nissan Micra in near-production guise.

The fifth-gen Nissan Micra's design will be very similar to that of the Nissan Sway Concept.

The Nissan Micra will no longer be a cute supermini straddling two different segments once it enters its fifth generation. Spyshots suggest that the next-gen Micra will have no resemblance to the current model, and have an entirely different, aggressive character derived from the Nissan Sway Concept.

Along with a bold design and athletic proportions, the all-new Nissan Micra will improve in dimensions too. The increased dimensions will make it a perfect B-segment contender then, going head-to-head with the Ford Fiesta, the VW Polo, the Renault Clio and the likes. The next-gen Nissan Micra is said to be based on a mixed platform consisting of some elements of the CMF-B version of the Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF (Common Modular Family) platform.

The next-gen Nissan Micra will be the Renault-Nissan Alliance's first CMF-B platform-based model.

The next-gen Nissan Micra should be offered with a variety of petrol and diesel engines with displacements ranging from 0.9- to 1.6-litre. The 2017 Nissan Micra will reportedly go on sale by the end of 2016. It will be manufactured at the Renault plant located in Flins, near Paris, France. AMEI (Asia, Middle East and India) region markets will reportedly get a different new generation model that will be produced at the Renault-Nissan’s Alliance facility in Oragadam near Chennai, India.
