2017 Skoda Rapid leaks out completely before today's launch
First major facelift for the Skoda Rapid since its introduction in 2012.
The 2017 Skoda Rapid (facelift) has been photographed from all exterior angles, courtesy of Murshid Markan, ahead of its launch today. This is the first major facelift for the Skoda Rapid since its introduction in 2012.
Upon first glance, the face of the Skoda Rapid looks sharper and inline with the Euro-spec models Fabia and Rapid. It features a wider ‘butterfly’ grille with black vertical slats, angular headlamps with projector lighting, chrome-finished inserts, and small strip of LED DRLs, and a cleaner bumper design with new foglamps and wider mesh.
The side profile looks largely identical to the outgoing model, save for the relocation of its turn indicators to the ORVMs, while changes at the rear-end are limited to a new bumper, chrome strip on the lid, and shark fin antenna.
Unlike the exterior, the interior design appears identical. However, the new Rapid drops the chocolate brown-and-beige color combo for a dual-tone black-and-beige color scheme, and comes equipped with new features like a Skoda-themed infotainment touchscreen system with MirrorLink, Bluetooth connectivity , GPS-guided navigation and reverse parking camera.

The 2017 Rapid's engine lineup will comprise of the updated 1.5L TDI engine sourced from the VW Ameo, and a 1.6L four cylinder MPI petrol engine. Both variants are equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the diesel and petrol variants can be had with a 7-speed DSG and 6-speed automatic, respectively.
