Gixxer SF-inspired 2017 Suzuki GSX150R spied in Indonesia

Could borrow engine from the Gixxer SF.

Iwanbanaran has posted clear spyshots of the 2017 Suzuki GSX150R testing in Indonesia, ahead of its market launch expected to take place this financial year. At first glance, the 2017 GSX150R appears to borrow plenty of styling cues from the Suzuki Gixxer SF which was launched in India in April 2015.

LED headlight, disc brakes at the front and rear and a fully-digital cluster are among the reported features of the 2017 GSX150R.

The overall design of the fairing, the rear swingarm, the various alloy/aluminium bits and the dual exhaust tips seem inspired by the Gixxer SF, though the shape of the headlight and taillight adhere to Suzuki's design language but are different in comparison to the Gixxer.

According to the report, the 2017 Suzuki GSX150R will be equipped with an LED headlight, a fully-digital instrument cluster, disc brakes at both ends and dual exhaust pipes. The report does not talk about the GSX150R's powertrain, but there's a good chance Suzuki may borrow the engine from the Gixxer itself.

The 2017 Suzuki GSX150R could use the 154.9 cc single-cylinder air-cooled unit that powers the Gixxer series of motorcycles in India.

As the Gixxer was considered for the Japanese market, Suzuki has in-effect expressed that the 154.9 cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine is indeed capable of satisfying demands set by customers abroad. On the Gixxer SF, this unit makes 14.8 PS at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm.
