The 2017 Volvo XC60 is expected to make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show next March.

The next generation Volvo XC60 will feature an exterior design that combines cues from the Volvo XC90 and condense them into a smaller, more affordable crossover. It will be the first product from the 60 cluster to jump to Volvo's new SPA platform, before the S60 and V60.

The interior could also be inspired the by the Volvo XC90, featuring a simple interior trimmed with high quality plastics and other materials. Most of the features will be operable through a large portrait touchscreen display, allowing designers to reduce the button count significantly. Unlike the XC90, the XC60 will only be a 5-seater.

The engine lineup will include 1.5L three cylinder and 2.0L four cylinder Drive-E units available in both petrol and diesel variants. Also in the cards is a PHEV variant that will deliver performance and efficiency figures similar to that of the XC90 T8. An 8-speed automatic could be the only transmission, while an AWD system is expected to be exclusive to top-end variants.
