The second-gen Volvo XC60 will incorporate the company's latest design language introduced with the second-gen Volvo XC90 and most recently seen on the Volvo S90/V90 range. Signature exterior elements such as the Thor's Hammer headlight, the waterfall grille and tall, L-shaped tail lamps would be a part of the standard styling package. The interior is expected to be similar to that of the XC90 and S90/V90, as evident with the instrument panel, dashboard and the centre console and the infotainment system with a portrait display revealed in spy shots.

The next-gen Volvo XC60 is based on the SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) modular platform. Positioned between the flagship XC90 and the forthcoming XC40, the all-new XC60 will is confirmed to use the 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine beside the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines.

The UK-spec XC90 range will include 187 bhp D4 and 232 bhp D5 diesel models. A T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid variant will follow with its powertrain tuned to produce around 400 hp.

The current Volvo XC60 is manufactured in Belgium and China. One thing that is almost certain is that the Indian operations will continue importing this model as a CBU.

The next-gen Volvo XC60 is expected to premiere at the Geneva Motor Show next month, and its Indian launch will likely happen only in 2018.
