Indian launch expected next year.

Volvo Cars has released the first teaser of the 2017 Volvo XC60 and announced that the all-new model will debut on 7 March 2017. Needless to say, the redesigned XC60 will have its stage premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.

Volvo will offer the 2017 Volvo XC60 with 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol, 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engines at launch.

The 2017 Volvo XC60, from what's seen in the teaser image, features the company's latest family design. The headlamps incorporate signature T-shaped, Thor's Hammer LED daytime running lights which extend inwards to touch the radiator grille in a similar way to what was seen on the Volvo Concept 40.2. Strangely, the 2017 Volvo XC60 doesn't get the familiar waterfall grille with vertical slots. Instead, the teaser image suggests that the new generation model features black mesh grille similar to the Volvo XC90 R-Design. Lastly, the radiator grille has the Volvo Ironmark logo in the centre.

The second generation Volvo XC60 rides on the Swedish automaker's SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform that underpins the Volvo XC90, Volvo S90 and Volvo V90 also. The modular front-wheel drive platform should make the XC60 considerably lighter beside improving weight distribution and offering compliance for electrified powertrains without affecting the interior space or load space.

Thanks to the SPA platform, the second-gen Volvo XC60 will pack a plug-in hybrid powertrain as well.
