Will debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show reportedly.

The VW Polo is set to enter its sixth generation next year. A speculative rendering from Auto Express shows how the next-gen 2017 VW Polo may look like. The 2017 VW Polo is said to debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

The next-gen VW Polo will grow in size and have a roomier cabin.

The next-gen VW Polo will be based on the MQB A0 platform, the smallest version of the MQB platform. It will reportedly be 70-85 kg lighter than the current VW Polo. The VW Polo has been known to grow in size for its sixth generation. The current, fifth generation VW Polo measures 3,972 mm in length, 1,901 mm in width (including door mirrors) and 1,476 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,456 mm.

According to the British publication's report, the VW Polo Mk6's wheelbase will be stretched to 2,560 mm. Thanks to the increased wheelbase, the cabin will be roomier and have more space for rear-seat passengers. The length will measure around 4,000 mm.

The report says that the petrol engines will include 1.0- and 1.5-litre units. The former will be offered in naturally aspirated and turbocharged iterations. The 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine will produce around 75 bhp, while its turbocharged versions will be be tuned to develop around 100 bhp and 115 bhp. The 1.5-litre petrol engine, which should be turbocharged, may produce around 140 bhp and 160 bhp.

The new report, going with an earlier report, says that the diesel engine will be a 1.5-litre unit. It may be offered in three outputs: 90 bhp, 110 bhp and 130 bhp. The German-spec Polo's 1.4-litre diesel engine will reportedly be replaced by a 1.6-litre diesel engine. Transmission choices should include 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The next-gen VW Polo will be based on the MQB A0 version of the MQB modular platform.

Moving to the interior, the 2017 VW Polo will go through a major technological upgrade moving to its sixth generation. Colour infotainment system will be standard across the range, as per the report. The base models, however, may have connectivity features limited to app-based integration possible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The range-topping model could have an infotainment system with a display as big as 9.5-inches. A fully digital instrument cluster like the Audi's virtual cockpit display is also in the rumor mill.
