The 2018 Audi A7 Sportback was showcased at the recently concluded Paris Motor Show. The second generation of the A7 was unveiled in October 2017.

While the 2018 Audi A7 Sportback retains the fastback styling of its predecessor, the designers have incorporated various elements from the Prologue study.

The 2018 Audi A7 Sportback has all the lines of the company's latest design language, which was first showcased by the Audi Prologue concept. The highlights of the front-end include a slightly angular Singleframe grille, and the signature HD Matrix LED headlamps with laser high beam. The side profile is characterised by stylish 21-inch alloy wheels while the tail-end features LED tail lights and an active rear spoiler.

The 2018 Audi A7 Sportback measures 4,969 mm in length, 1,908 mm in width, and 1,422 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,926 mm. In comparison, its predecessor had an overall length of 4,974 mm, a width of 1,011 mm, and a height of 1,420 mm. Its wheelbase, at 2,914 mm, was shorter. The interior length has seen an increment of 21 mm, which has translated into more knee room and headroom.

The interior takes several cues from the Prologue design study. The talking points of the cabin of the 2018 Audi A7 include 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit, Audi Artificial Intelligence systems, 10.1-inch MMI navigation plus touchscreen infotainment system and an 8.6-inch touch display for accessing the climate control system, comfort functions and text input. The centre console is driver-oriented for easier accessibility to the controls.

All the variants feature a new mild hybrid system, which can allow coasting in the freewheeling mode at speeds between 55 km/h and 160 km/h.

It comes mated to a 7-speed S-tronic automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels through a quattro all-wheel-drive system. The diesel engine on offer includes a 3.0-TDI V6 diesel motor that outputs 286 PS and comes mated to an 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox.
