2018 BMW 2 Series Coupe (LCI) at the IAA 2017 - Live
Following its digital premiere in May, BMW is showcasing the 2018 BMW 2 Series Coupe at the IAA 2017 in Frankfurt. Changes made to the facelifted 2 Series help freshen up the 3-year-old model to last for the rest of its lifecycle.
BMW's entry level 2-door coupe now comes with new Bi-LED headlights as standard equipment, with adaptive LED units available as an option. The cluster design drops the round rings for a new hexagonal interpretation we see in the latest crop of BMW products. It also gets larger BMW Kidney grilles, larger air intakes on the three-part front bumper are also now larger, redesigned LED taillights with BMW’s characteristics “L” cluster design. BMW has also updated the rim designs as well, which range from 17 - 18 inches. New colours include Mediterranean Blue, Seaside Blue and Sunset Orange (featured).
Inside, the most noticeable difference is the design of its central dashboard trim, which starts from the central HVAC vents and moves outward. There’s also a new instrument cluster with more driver-friendly information displays, new iDrive software with tile-based design and optional touch sensitivity, new air vent design, chrome accents around the window buttons, wireless Apple CarPlay, inductive mobile phone charging and a WiFi hotspot.
The 2 Series has an extensive line-up of 1.5L three-, 2.0L four- and 3.0L six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines available for the Coupe and Convertible variants. Output ranges from 100 kW/136 hp to 250 kW/340 hp. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or 8-speed Steptronic automatic, while a xDrive AWD system is available in select variants.
